My Latest Project – Songs to Grow By: Planting Seeds of Positivity in Our Kids

Looking back on my journey—as a musician, a teacher, and a therapist—it all feels like it was leading to this: Songs to Grow By (HERE). This project is close to my heart. It’s more than just an album; it’s a way to share music that helps children grow strong, kind, and hopeful.

Our kids hear all kinds of messages these days. Some lift them up, but many can confuse or even discourage. With Songs to Grow By, I want to offer something different — songs filled with kindness, courage, gratitude, and love.

Thanks to new tools like Suno AI, I can now create these songs more easily, economically, and beautifully than ever before, all while keeping that personal touch.

Why Music Matters So Much
We all know how a tune can get stuck in our heads. Imagine a little one hearing songs that say things like:

  • “I can do hard things.”
  • “Kindness starts with me.”
  • “I am safe. I am strong.”

Those aren’t just words—they become part of how children talk to themselves, how they feel inside. Kids’ brains are like soft clay; the songs they hear help shape who they’ll become.
When we give them songs full of love, courage, and gratitude, we’re planting seeds for a lifetime of resilience and kindness.

The Science Backing It Up
It’s not just my gut feeling—science shows:

  • Positive messages build self-esteem and reduce negative thinking.
  • Encouraging a growth mindset helps kids keep going, even when things get tough.
  • Music improves memory and helps kids handle emotions better.
  • Practicing gratitude makes kids happier and better friends.

Music lights up many parts of the brain all at once, so these positive lyrics stick deep and last long.

Why We Need This Now
Kids are surrounded by so much noise—from TV, social media, peers, and even adults. While some messages inspire, many do not. A lot of popular children’s songs are catchy, but not always meaningful or uplifting.

Songs to Grow By offers a fresh, fun alternative—music that kids love but that also helps build strong character and well-being.

My Mission
After 33 years as a therapist and educator, I’ve seen firsthand how powerful early positive messages are—and how much kids suffer without them. Music has this wonderful way of slipping past resistance and landing right in the heart.
My wise colleague and friend, Harry Pickens said our job with AI is to be “amplifiers of human values.” That really struck a chord with me. I’m determined to use AI to spread what’s good, true, and beautiful.

The Seed and the Tree
There’s a story I love: a seed that’s damaged early on grows into a crooked tree, no matter what you do later. But a strong tree, even if it’s hurt, keeps growing straight and tall.
Childhood is when we plant those seeds. With warmth, stability, and positive messages, kids grow into resilient adults who can weather life’s storms.

What’s in the Album?
Songs to Grow By has seven heartfelt songs:

  1. Thank You, Hashem/God – Gratitude for life’s blessings
  2. I’m So Bright – Self-worth and purpose
  3. I Can Do Hard Things – Resilience and growth mindset
  4. Kindness Starts with Me – Empathy and compassion in action
  5. I Am Safe, I Am Strong – Emotional safety and inner strength
  6. The World Is Full of Wonders – Awe, curiosity, and gratitude for creation
  7. My Heart Is Full of Love – Connection, belonging, and sharing love

Each song comes with easy activities for parents and teachers to help kids really absorb these lessons.
